Listen you fuckwit, if she hadn't have called the bloke an ape in PUBLIC, then we wouldn't be having this argument but she did and she was rightfully shamed

Deal with it

You want to dance around it, swear and then call names as your final post fine, mate.

But you and I know that the practice is there and it shows we make a effort to treat people of that age differently.

Well, she hasn't been charged with anything so shut the fuck up with your fucking straw men

I'm, fucking done with you you boring cunt

Because the potential punishment for a felony is more severe than being pulled up for calling someone an ape in public

ironsofcanada 6:56 Wed Jul 29
Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
And we don't name minors charged with misdemeanour either so that explanation does not make sense.

But what is the rational behind the practice?

Sorry the context of this was

Why do we not name minors charged with crimes worse than this?

Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
children can commit crimes. Racist chanting is a crime.
It was impossible for the child not to be identified being that the crime was in public. Obviously we punish children based on what they should understand. So we are more lenient, (i.e. she should not have a criminal record or go to prison etc...). But I think societies getting pretty silly when we start letting kids of with terrible behaviour.

And to equate that with "consent" is ridiculous. There are 25 yr olds who dont understand sexuality let alone a 13yrd old kid. It's not the same thing at all.

I dont understand the hate apart from the fact that lots of Australians are racist bastards and think calling Aboroginal people ape's is not too bad an insult.

Nearly fell off my chair with the "deport him" jibe.. how stupid is that guy? Deport him to where? I think his people have been their a little bit longer than anybody else... clue is in the name abORIGINAL.

Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
No because one is a felony and she;s rightly not named and the other is a minor misdemeanour, if that

So her "crime" is less but its okay to shame her more.

But we don't name minors who have been - accused - of any crime

Far Cough 6:41 Wed Jul 29
Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
Because she's not being accused of murder is she?

Geez, what a fucking straw man

He talks to the steward, the steward speaks to the girl. I don't think the average viewer would need to be columbo to figure out the two things were connected.

Sorry last comment, we don't name 13 year old murderers like the one in Edmonton (not mine) sentenced earlier this year. Why have we determined that is proper practice?

Jonah Lomas 6:33 Wed Jul 29
Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
I think you're giving your average 13 year old far too little credit.

A 13 year old now, is far more "worldly" than I was when I was 13.

Marston Hammer 6:32 Wed Jul 29
Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
Are people really complaining that he pointed out the girl to the steward? Just seen the clip and am amazed anyone thinks he did anything wrong. What could he have done differently in that moment?

ironsofcanada 6:29 Wed Jul 29
Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
Jonah Lomas 6:21 Wed Jul 29

But for people of the age of 13, ignorance is absolutely a defence in pretty much every other context. Think about how the law or even you as an individual treat 13 year olds differently.

But I am done, I am sure everyone appreciates that. Read the thread if you want the rest.

Jonah Lomas 6:21 Wed Jul 29
Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
I completely disagree.

If she's old enough to sit in the front row and call a aboriginal bloke an ape at an AFL game, in the top grade of the game, while it's televised around the world, then she's old enough to be vilified for it.

Ignorance is no defence....even if you choose to believe the ignorance defence.

No, I think he's a cock for the way he;s gone about it but having said that, I see nothing wrong in her having being pointed out, after all she said it, why shouldn't she be named and shamed?

ironsofcanada 6:16 Wed Jul 29
Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
Far Cough 6:10 Wed Jul 29

My point from the beginning.

Lomas

Yes, he's a grown man and she is a 13 year old girl. She needs to know its unacceptable and there should be consequences but being nationally shamed for someone of that age, is too far.
